05/02/14

Today, during the traditional Wednesday audience in St. Peter's Square, a representation of men and women from the Sassari brigade met Pope Francis. The Minister of Defense, Senator Mario Mauro, and the Chief of Staff of the Army, General Claudio Graziano greeted the Pope.

Also present in the square is the band of "Sassari" that has played and intoned "Dimonios", the famous anthem of the Brigade.

The military of "Sassari" in these days are leaving for Afghanistan, where they will be called to manage the transition phase, or the transfer of responsibility and powers to the Afghan armed forces and security.

The soldiers of the "Sassari" are the same ones that have intervened to rescue the population of Olbia hit by the flood of the last 19 November.
