The Alpine troops' exercise "Picca d'Acciaio" ended today, which for a week saw the "Julia" brigade as the protagonist of a simulated combat between opposing sides, with the development of specific actions in an Arctic environment, using systems, materials, procedures and equipment with a high technological connotation.
8th Venzone Regiment, commanded by Colonel Lorenzo Rivi, supported by various units from the 3rd Mountain Artillery Regiment, the 2nd Engineer Regiment, the Logistics Regiment Rainbow wrasse and from the regiment Piedmont Cavalry (2nd), conducted the maneuver on the snow facing the Alpine troops of the 3rd regiment of the Alpine brigade "Taurinense", in the role of opposing forces.
The main phase of the exercise, lasting 72 hours, saw the deployment of a digitalized tactical command post, equipped with the new electronic battlefield management system “Argo”.
The field activity - which was attended by Division General Michele Risi, commander of the Alpine troops, and Brigadier General Francesco Maioriello, commander of the "Julia" - had its epilogue in the training area of Villabassa, with a synchronized action of all the components of the brigade that led to the neutralization of the opposing forces.
The “Picca d'Acciaio” exercise is part of the cycle of activities aimed at increasing the preparation and readiness of the units in view of the upcoming participation of the interested units in the Allied Reaction Force (ARF) of NATO.
