It took place yesterday afternoon, in the logistics-training area "Pian del Termine" of Civitavecchia, in the presence of the commander of Support Terrestrial Operating Forces, general of the army corps Giuseppenicola Tota and the commander of the Transmissions, Brigadier General Stefano Francesconi, the inauguration ceremony of Strategic Radio Communications Center (Ce.Co.RS), fulcrum of the long-distance radio link capacity of the Italian Army.
The Center, started on the recommendation of the VI Department of the Army General Staff and which sees the 11th broadcasting regiment as Coordinating Authority, was carried out as part of a program aimed at creating radio links with the main areas of operation outside the national territory and at the creation of a system of back-up to satellite links. To date, at Ce.Co.RS radio links are operating and constantly monitored, made with the use of radio stations of the CNR-2000 family and managed through an IP-COMMS concentrator, with contingents deployed in Libya, Lebanon, Kosovo , Afghanistan and Iraq.
The services implemented on these connections are made available at the main C4 Systems Center of Palazzo Esercito, in order to soon extend them in favor of the operations room of the Land Operational Forces Command e Army Operational Command.
Alongside the management of connections, the Center also carries out numerous activities aimed at identifying solutions aimed at introducing new services and improving those already implemented. With this in mind, exercises and experimental activities were conducted that involved, in addition to the regimental operators, other departments of the Army and personnel of the Industry, with which an intense collaboration relationship is active.
The Center is also used as a hub for connection tests on the occasion of experiments and tests by the Comando Trasmissioni.
General Tota, in expressing the utmost satisfaction for what has been achieved and for the objectives achieved, underlined the professionalism and passion with which the women and men of the Broadcasting Force constantly work in the service of the Armed Force and the country.
