Inauguration of the photo exhibition "Lebanon - peacekeeper mission"

04/04/14

It was inaugurated today, at the Vittoriano Flag Memorial, in the presence of the Undersecretary for Defense Hon. Domenico Rossi and the general army under-chief of Giovan Battista Borrini, the photo exhibition "Lebanon Missione Peacekeeper".

The exhibition, organized by the Italian-Lebanese Cultural Institute in collaboration with the Italian Army and with the patronage of the Ministry of Defense, is inspired by the similar initiative carried out in recent months in Tire in Lebanon by the "Friuli" Aircraft Brigade of the Army Italian.

The military of Friuli, during their use in the Land of the Cedars, collected photos and testimonies of the Italian presence in Lebanon as part of the UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) mission from 1979 to today. The images are presented in an innovative graphic design with a great emotional impact.

Currently over 10 thousand soldiers from 37 nations participate in the UNIFIL mission, 1100 are Italians of which 95% are from the Army. Since 2012, the guide of the mission is also Italian, General Paolo Serra, in fact, holds the position of commander of the force and head of the mission, a prestigious certificate of esteem and trust for the active role played by Italy in promoting stability and the security of the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern area. The same post was held from 2007 to 2010 by General Claudio Graziano, the current Army Chief of Staff.

It will be possible to visit the exhibition for free every day, except Mondays, until 13 next April, from 9.30 to 15.00.
