Important moment of historical military study for the "Pozzuolo del Friuli"

The "Pozzuolo del Friuli" cavalry brigade command, a large combat unit of the Army that provides the land assets for the national projection capability from the sea, based in Gorizia, hosted the first of a series of events dedicated to Military History entitled: "The First World War, source of learning and memory - Reasoned reports on the Great War for the training of military personnel".

The event saw the participation of Junior Leader of the brigade and of the students of the degree course in International and Diplomatic Sciences of the University of Trieste and is part of a broader cycle of formative and training moments of the large unit.

The commander of the detachment to the national headquarters, Colonel Luca Franchini opened the works in the presence of numerous civil and military authorities of the city of Gorizia.

The seminar session of March 9 last had the purpose of providing a package of military historical skills such as to arouse curiosity and specific interests in the audience capable of stimulating a process of reflections that led from military historical analysis to specific insights on the doctrine of employment. and on contemporary operational planning.

The topics under consideration were handled by a panel of leading professors, in particular prof. Pietro Neglie gave a lecture on the historical political framework that led Italy to enter the First World Conflict, not forgetting the complex and numerous global interconnections that conditioned and guided the political decision-makers of all nations in the direction of the war.

Dr. Pierluigi Lodi instead offered a detailed study on the Battle of Caporetto, framing the aspects connected to the weapon systems and combat techniques of the parties in conflict.

The professor. Paolo Pozzato concluded the day of work with an examination of the Battles of the Solstice and Vittorio Veneto, retracing the last phases of the Italian war in detail and with elegance, without neglecting food for thought and some biographical and bibliographical insights on the figures of Emilio Lussu and of the gen. Giacinto Ferrero.

The whole activity is based on three specifics Battlefield Tour which will be conducted in the next months of April and May along the trenches of the Great War.
