Public transport in Naples is safe thanks to the readiness of the Army and the drivers.

Once again it is our Army that bypasses the bureaucracy of public administrations, but this time it is not a question of paving roads or removing waste, but rather allowing Neapolitan citizens to move by public bus.

In fact, the public transport line that connects the municipalities of the Phlegraean coast to Mondragone was suspended on 1 August last due to lack of resources for the purchase of diesel fuel for scheduled vehicles. It seems that the problem is related to the DURC affair, that is the Single Document of Contribution Regularity, that is a document that certifies the regularity of payments of a company, as confirmed to the press by Augusto Cracco, sole administrator of CTP, a Neapolitan public transport company.

In reality it is not new to remain out of fuel and, as can be seen from the research on the net, the former ANM (Neapolitan mobility company) in the last decade had promptly encountered the stop of buses for similar emergencies. By way of curiosity, due to their conformation and the effect of the lowered or semi-lowered floor, urban and interurban buses have a capacity of about 300 liters of fuel and about thirty Adblu, with a consumption of around 4l / km.

Winning the gen. Tota, De Magistris and prefect

Augusto Cracco's idea of trying to ask the Army for diesel sounded a bit bizarre at first, despite his company being in a state of need and with angry citizens on foot. However, with a teamwork and understanding worthy of a pleasant Neapolitan comedy with a happy ending, the commander of the COMFOPSUD, General Giuseppenicola Tota, the prefect of Caserta Ruberto and the mayor of Naples Luigi De Magistris, made it possible in just six days to restore the line that runs along the suggestive Phlegraean coasts.

The Army arrives

A real setback for a short-sighted bureaucracy that on Saturday 7 August was defeated by the "autieri" of the Italian Army

In the bus shed of the CTP of Teverola and Persano, 10 liters of diesel fuel arrived from military depots including the 35000th Cerimant, a fuel that is now unique and unified for the Armed Forces. A crucial role in the exceptional coordination linked to the affair goes to General Roberto Angius and Colonel Fabio Magni, commander of the Garibaldi logistic regiment, as well as to the battalion commander ten.col. Iannacone.

Military tankers

As soon as the green light was received, the Army boys filled a complex consisting of a road tractor and tank semi-trailer, Iveco Eurotech, with diesel, flanked by an Astra SMH66.45T-ZAT for widespread distribution in the tanks of the bus sheds.

Wearing a vegetated service and combat uniform surmounted by a high-visibility yellow vest, and with a safety helmet and work gloves, the soldiers lowered themselves into the supply manholes connected to the underground tanks, and which should have a capacity in the order of 7 / 9 thousand liters each of fuel. Within the remittances, the military coordination was integrated with the civilian coordination of CTN employees and drivers for millimeter-accurate maneuvers on the apron spaces.

Once again a public need and calamity have underlined the fundamental role of our Army and its logistic structure, well organized and oiled and ready to respond to great needs, not only military, but also to the "alleged shortcomings" in the civil management of public thing.
