The visit of the Minister of Defense, Hon. Lorenzo Guerini, at the “Aldo del Monte” barracks, headquarters of the 28th “Pavia” operational communications regiment in Pesaro.
Upon his arrival, the minister was greeted by the commander of the Terrestrial Operational Support Forces, general of the army corps Massimo Scala and by the commander of the unit, Colonel Andrea Martellotti.
After attending the briefing presented by the regimental commander, the Minister of Defense examined the structure of the department, from the analysis, planning, training and conception center to the three specialized companies "Dissemination", "Production, Media, Press and Internet" and "Production Media TV / Radio "; during the visit, the capabilities of the department were described, centered on analyzing the information environment and building effective communication.
Minister Guerini at the end of the cognitive tour, greeted the staff of "Pavia": “I greet all the men and women of this prestigious Army unit - he has declared - which truly represents a unicum in the national sphere and also a point of reference in the NATO sphere and in collaborations with our Allies in a sector as delicate as that of operational communications. We must show you great appreciation for the work you do, great recognition for the work you do - added the minister - among you, there are highly qualified professionals, analysts who have very significant linguistic, but also cultural and social knowledge. These are the valuable assets we can count on looking to the future ".
Subsequently, the Minister of Defense gave an interview to Radio Army, the official radio broadcaster of the Armed Force, born in 2019 inside the Pesaro barracks, which just today turns two years after the first broadcast on the internet: "I want to congratulate Army Radio which turns two today, two years of important presence for our Armed Forces - said the minister - a Radio born from a need in an Operational Theater that has become something that keeps us company every day ".
At the conclusion of the visit to the regiment with the traditional signature of the Honorary Roll, the Minister of Defense, accompanied by General Scala and Colonel Martellotti, attended the unveiling ceremony of a stele dedicated to the Fallen of Nassiriya. Ceremony in which, among others, the mayor of Pesaro Matteo Ricci, the prefect Tommaso Ricciardi and the archbishop Msgr. Sandro Salvucci.
The 28th is the department of the Armed Forces that uses the potential of communication as a fundamental tool for acquiring and maintaining the consent of the populations present in the various areas of operations outside the national territory in which the Army operates. Today the "Pavia" specialists are deployed in Kosovo, Lebanon and Niger.
