22/01/14

As part of the training activities of the Army Logistics Command planned for the 2014, aimed at increasing the ability to move their transport assets according to an intermodal approach, an initial exercise was carried out with inter-force connotations, in the presence of the Logistic Commander of the 'Army, at the base of the La Spezia Navy.

In particular, the activity carried out concerned the embarkation and disembarkation of military vehicles on Capri vessels, coastal transport motorcycles, of the Gorgona class, verifying the procedures for their loading and for the supply of materials and simulating a logistic support intervention as part of a humanitarian relief scenario.

The departments that participated in the exercise come from the 8 ° "Casilina" Transport Regiment of Rome and from the Logistic Commands north and south of Padua and Naples respectively. This also made it possible to verify the procedures within the planning process thanks to the involvement of the various functional branches of the logistics area controls.

The main purpose of these exercises is to increase the level of interoperability between the assets of different Armed Forces and then refine the training of personnel in the organization and conduct phases of the logistical support inprevisione of possible employments operating outside the national territory or at home. These activities are necessary in order to guarantee a response capacity with projectable assets and therefore able to provide logistical support in the event of intervention in complex crisis areas.

The Army Logistics Command has the task of identifying, finding and allocating the resources necessary for the logistical support of the Army units, using, in addition to the 5 departments (Transport materials, Commissariat, Health, Veterinary and Technical), two peripheral commands to Padua and Naples and of the central inspection team. It also issues logistics guidelines, plans and conducts refueling activities at home and abroad.
