The Chief of SME visits the Piacenza Logistics Hubs

This morning the Chief of Staff of the Army, General of the Army Corps Carmine Masiello, visited Piacenza at the North Heavy Maintenance Pole and National Supply Center for Motorization, Engineering, Artillery and NBC.

Welcomed by the director of the North Heavy Maintenance Pole, Brigadier General Roberto Cernuzzi, visited the main production lines of the Authority, including FH/70, PZH 2000, Ariete and Centauro. During the activity, the Chief of Staff appreciated the constant commitment and professionalism of the military and civilian workers who preserve professionalism from other times and of the highest value.

In particular, Gen. Masiello, during his greeting to the staff, underlined: "Today more than ever, we need a logistics capacity that expresses excellence and allows the Army to deal with new scenarios. This Hub, as always in the past, is an example of passion, competence and enthusiasm. It is a point of strength, of which the Armed Forces are proud. It will continue to have the value it deserves!"​

Gen. Masiello then met with the soldiers of the Emilia Romagna group, involved in the operation Safe Roads. After an update on the operational situation by Col. Silenzi, commander of the group, the Chief of Staff expressed full satisfaction for the ability and commitment shown by the personnel.

Subsequently, the Chief of Staff paid a visit to the National Supply Center for Motorization, Engineering, Artillery and NBC, where he was welcomed by the director, Brigadier General Daniele Durante.

The Chief of Staff attended an in-depth briefing on the institutional activities of the Agency, with particular attention to the supply and resupply activities for the Armed Forces departments. In addressing the military and civilian personnel of the Agency, Gen. Masiello highlighted: “In an Army that hopes for the best but prepares for the worst, general support is a vital activity. The Armed Forces' commitment to effectively address current and future challenges is realized in passion, creative thinking, automation and integration of the logistics system. You represent an essential component of the proactivity of a modern Army, in which we must invest”.

The Chief of SME also visited the warehouses of the Agency, both the old generation ones, characterized by the manual movement of materials, and the new generation ones with their automated movement. During the activity he personally met the personnel who work within each organizational unit and who daily work to ensure the delicate and very important activity related to the supply of materials to the departments of the Armed Forces, at home and abroad.
