The Chief of Staff visits the “Savoia Cavalleria” (3rd)

This morning in Grosseto, the Army Chief of Staff, Gen. Ca Carmine Masiello, met with the paratrooper knights of "Savoia Cavalleria". After the rendering of honors and the salute to the glorious Standard of the regiment, the 107th commander, Colonel Giandomenico Di Spirito, presented the current status of the reconnaissance unit of the paratrooper brigade "Folgore".

The Army Chief of Staff inaugurated the new workshop and the regiment's washing floor and, addressing the "Savoia" staff, said that: "this new achievement, the result of the vision and expertise of the Armed Forces' infrastructure sector, radically changes the ability to achieve and maintain the highest level of efficiency of the regiment's combat platforms, a prerequisite for continuous training, oriented towards the most complex and selective scenarios. Training is the glue between history, tradition and innovation, of which this glorious regiment sublimates every aspect, translating into levels of readiness and esprit de corps without equal. Paratrooper Knights, I give you a "bonne nouvelle": you are one of the spearheads of the Army. Keep it up!"

Subsequently, in the area of ​​the newly built workshop, in the presence of the commander of the “Folgore” brigade, Lieutenant General Federico Bernacca, and of the Army infrastructure department chief, Lieutenant General Giuseppe Schiariti, the naming of the building after Major Alberto Litta Modignani, former officer of the “Savoia”, decorated with the Gold Medal for Military Valor for the feats of arms of Isbushenskij on 24 August 1942, took place.

A historical continuity within the Cavalry Corps that sees the ideal passage between the stables and the workshops, where the current vehicles of the Armed Forces are maintained and made efficient, ready to support the paratroopers in facing the challenges that the modern scenario reserves for them.

The personnel of the 7th Infrastructure Department then illustrated to the Chief of Staff and the authorities present the characteristics of the building constructed, which features specific structural features for operating on the “Centauro 2” armored vehicle, soon to be assigned to the “Folgore” Cavalry unit.

Furthermore, in the “Circolo delle Sciabole” the paratroopers were able to take advantage of the initiative called “A coffee with the boss”, an appointment designed to have a direct and non-hierarchical comparison with the dependent personnel.

The visit ended at the regimental museum where the top authority was able to walk through centuries of history.
