Yesterday morning the Army Chief of Staff, Corps General Pietro Serino, visited the Anti-aircraft artillery command (COMACA) at the headquarters of the "Santa Barbara" barracks in Sabaudia (LT).

General Serino, after receiving the honors from an armed picket, was greeted by the commander of the Support Terrestrial Operating Forces (Support COMFOTER), general of the army corps Massimo Scala and the commander of the anti-aircraft artillery, brigadier general Fabrizio Argiolas and greeted the Institute Flag of the COMACA, recently decorated with the second Gold Cross of Merit of the Army.

After a brief meeting with the commanders, the head of SME attended an information briefing on the anti-aircraft specialty in which General Argiolas illustrated the tasks, structure and organization, as well as the training / operational activities in progress and those planned. in the short and medium term, and highlighted how the evolution of modern operational scenarios could require a reconfiguration of the Army's Counter-Aircraft Artillery.

Subsequently, General Serino visited the anti-aircraft cluster command post deployed under the tent inside the "Santa Barbara" barracks and the medium range (SAMP / T), very short range (Stinger) and C-Uas ( Counter Unmanned Aerial System) connected to it.

The deployment of a tier counter-aircraft cluster tactical group is one of the periodic training activities of greatest importance for the specialty and is a useful tool for testing the level of preparation of both staff and operational sections in dealing with the wide spectrum of threats coming from the third dimension, through the simulation of scenarios with exercises of varying difficulty and intensity.

The highest office of the Army then met the personnel deployed on the forecourt of the "Battle of the Solstice" and, in the course of his speech, addressed words of appreciation and gratitude for the work done by the men and women against aircraft for the professionalism and the commitment made in complex training and operational activities both at home and in operations outside the national territory ".

The visit, which took place in compliance with the provisions on the containment of the epidemiological emergency from COVID - 19, ended with the signing of the Roll of Honor and the exchange of gifts.
