In recent days, the Army Chief of Staff, Corps General Pietro Serino, went to Puglia for a two-day visit to the brigade departments Pinerolo.
The visit began in Bari at the Vitrani barracks, headquarters of the command and tactical support department Pinerolo, where General Serino, accompanied by the commander of the command South Operating Forces, general of the army corps Giuseppenicola Tota, was welcomed by the commander of the brigade Pinerolo, Brigadier General Luciano Antoci.
The commander of the brigade Pinerolo presented the unit focusing on its operational capabilities, and accompanied him to visit the digitized brigade command post deployed inside the barracks.
General Serino, thanks to the use of the communication systems of the digitized command post, witnessed, in real time, a multi-armed minor complex level exercise, conducted at the occasional shooting range of Torre di Nebbia by the 82nd Infantry Regiment " Turin ”integrated with assets of the“ Cavalleggeri Lodi ”regiment (15th), the 21st land artillery regiment“ Trieste ”and the 11th sapper engineers regiment.
The head of SME appreciated the maneuver and the flow of communications between digitized command posts (geolocated navigation, formatted messages, management of observation, identification and engagement of targets).
The senior officer during the meeting with the staff of the brigade command and the command department stressed "This brigade, from the point of view of the future employment prospects of the Armed Force, has the screws of the two blocks that regulate the height of the high jump rod in their hands, you have not set a standard but you have the keys to the standard that through your work and your commitment whatever the sector in which you operate every day rises a little more and, therefore, you must absolutely be aware that you are, at this moment, the reference of the Armed Force ".
The visit continued, at the polygon area to see in person all the maneuvers carried out in the field by the units exercised. In greeting the staff exercised the gen. Serino praised the excellent work on the ground “I had not yet seen, in this first year in office, such a deployment and you make a good impression. Attending for the first time an exercise with the VBM FRECCIA, having worked on the acquisition process, is certainly a great satisfaction. A vehicle in which we have believed since the beginning and which today represents our flagship. Today the head of SME went to the "Ruggiero Stella" barracks in Barletta, headquarters of the 82nd "Turin" infantry regiment where, after greeting the War Flag, he visited the modern infrastructure and met the staff.
The visit continued to the "Sernia Pedone" area of Foggia, home to the 21st land artillery regiment "Trieste" and the 11th sapper engineering regiment where he met the staff of the two regiments and then moved to the training area of Cagnano Varano (FG), witnessing an exercise conducted by the men and women of the two regiments in a lake environment with the use of the boats supplied to the regiments of the engineers.
General Serino speaking to the artillerymen and engineers highlighted “you do a job that is often not seen, a job that is appreciated only when it is not there and it is then that you miss it. This in some ways is your strength and your essence ”. At the end of the meetings with the personnel, General Serino signed the Roll of Honor of the regiments visited.
