This morning, at the “Pio IX” Army Officers' Club in Rome, the Army Chief of Staff, Army Corps General Carmine Masiello, and the military ordinary for Italy, Monsignor Santo Marcianò, received by the Army Deputy Chief of Staff, Army Corps General Salvatore Camporeale, met with a delegation of military chaplains from all over Italy for a brief moment of discussion.
Monsignor Marcianò, in his speech, highlighted the role of the military chaplain, fundamental for the support of the men and women of the Army since his presence inside the barracks is an authentic sign of freedom, respect, benevolence and service towards all, it enhances the tranquility and harmony of the environment, so that human coexistence itself reaches higher forms of decorum and solidarity.
The Chief of Staff, in greeting the priests, thus underlined the importance of the figure of the military chaplain as a point of reference and support for many soldiers: "We are fortunate because we work closely with young people, they are the ones who give us strength. The task of the commanders, with the support of military chaplains, is to keep alive the flame of values that burns inside every soldier, this is what makes our Institution strong. We can train as much as we want, use all the technologies in our possession, but if we are not strong inside as a community we will not go anywhere. I ask you to keep alive the faith and values of the military world and be close to our soldiers and their families. Your human and professional role is fundamental and is a confirmation of our specificity".
