The logistic battalion of Maniago leaves for Kosovo

06/09/14

On Wednesday, at the "Ettore Baldassarre" barracks in Maniago (PN), the men and women of the "Aries" logistics battalion greeted the war flag, which left the permanent home to reach Kosovo.

The short but heartfelt ceremony saw the presence of the commander of the detachment of the 132 armored brigade "Ariete", Colonel Paolo Pomella and of the mayor of the Friulian city, dr. Andrea Carli. The two authorities, together with various representatives of the National Association of Autieri d'Italia - Section of Maniago, witnessed the unraveling of the flag decorated with a bronze cross of merit of the army.

The unit, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Enzo Dursi, returns to the Balkan country to supply the "main body" of the Group of Support Adherence (GSA), after other experiences spent guaranteeing logistical support to the national contingents operating in the various theaters in which the Italian army is engaged.

The new task outside the area assigned to the “Ariete” logistics battalion is further confirmation of the high capacity of its staff to operate in international contexts.

Until the return of the unit, scheduled for next spring, the reins of the detachment pass from today into the hands of Lieutenant Colonel Alessandro Bortolotto.
