The soldiers of "Safe Streets" welcome over 350 immigrants

19/07/14

More than 350 are the migrants who were greeted in Lampedusa yesterday morning at 05.30 by army personnel, employed in the "Safe Roads" operation.

The boat carrying the immigrants of sub-Saharan and Syrian origin is docked at the Lampedusa commercial dock where the military, including two cultural mediators, contributed, as happened in recent days, to the reception and rescue phases.

The task of cultural mediators, in addition to guaranteeing the safety of the first aid and first aid center, is also to provide assistance to immigrants.

The contribution offered to immigrants and, consequently, to rescuers has often proved to be indispensable in order to avoid dangerous situations.

Military personnel operating in Lampedusa are placed in the Western Sicily Safe Roads group under the command of Colonel Marco Buscemi.
