At the end of an intense training cycle in the training areas of Sicily, an exercise by the units of the 6th Bersaglieri Regiment ended.
The activity, which engaged the regimental command and the smaller units in the planning, organization and conduct of operations, has set itself the purpose of maintaining and increasing the capabilities of a medium infantry company in a multi-arm context, in order to to increase the combat capacity of the Bersaglieri.
The theoretical and practical activities were conducted in different training areas of the former airport of Milo, of Lago Rubino and Montagna Grande in the province of Trapani, at the polygon of Drasy (AG), the training base of Piazza Armerina (EN), the Boccadifalco airport (PA) and inside the “Scianna” barracks in Palermo and “Giannettino” in Trapani. This allowed the brigade army soldiers Aosta to enrich their training to allow their use in any context, national and international.
The tactical activities of the phases of the exercise, with the use of medium armored vehicles (VBM) "Freccia" and with the use of vessels in the 4th Engineer Regiment of Palermo have allowed the units exercised to train in the command and control, in the exploitation of the land, in the recognition and safety of a body of water, in the search for improvised explosive devices, in the rapid reaction to a surprise attack and in off-road driving. Finally, the preparatory training for tactical helicopter transport and the construction of a helicopter landing area (ZAE) ensured the units of the 6th Bersaglieri Regiment the conditions for full synergy with the third dimension component.
