Army Mountain Guide dies from an accident in the mountains

The Army Chief of Staff, Army Corps General Claudio Graziano, expressed in the name of the Army and his staff "the deepest sympathy and feelings of closeness" to the relatives of Chief Caporal Major Simona Hosquet, who died today due to of a tragic accident in the mountains near Valtournanche (AO).

The whole Armed Forces clench in grief around the family of Chosen Major Caporal Hosquet.

Simona Hosquet, 30 years old, originally from Aosta, in service since 2002 at the Alpine Training Center of the Aosta Army, was a military mountain guide and military ski instructor. Already an athlete of the Italian junior national team, in the 2003 and 2004 seasons she conquered the title of Italian relay champion and a tricolor silver medal in the individual test on the 5 km classic technique.

After completing her racing career, she was employed in the Mountaineering Skiing Section of the Sports Activities Department, taking care of mountain training in favor of all the Armed Forces and Foreign Armies departments.

In the 2007 she became the first female soldier to achieve the rank of chosen military instructor in skiing and mountaineering.
