The Alpine troops on the symbolic peaks of the Susa valley such as the rock melon (3536 meters)

The movement module in the mountains of the 3rd Army Alpine Regiment, an important phase of the technical and tactical specialty training, lasted 2 weeks and completed with the aim of increasing the capabilities of the Department of move and fight in a mountain environment.

In particular, the Alpini of the brigade Taurinense they reached Fort Pramand, Monte Genevris (2536 asl) and finally Rocciamelone (3536), the mountain symbol of the Susa valley.

The movement module in the mountains was an important moment of resumption of activities in the high mountains, after the slowdowns due to the pandemic, allowing the young generation to acquire the concept of verticality, started with previous mountaineering courses.

The training also re-proposed the typical practice of the Alpine departments of the Army, that is to move in complete autonomy, with the deployment of the ward bases at each ascension. This activity, in addition to guaranteeing logistical support to the Alpine troops on the march, has made it possible to train the staff in setting up a camp on tents with everything needed to survive.

On 27 July the department received a visit from gen. ca Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, logistic commander of the Army, who took part in the movement in the mountains together with the Alpini marching towards the summit of Mount Genevris, on top of which he was honored. The visit continued with the illustration of the movement module in the mountains - then sealed by the ascension of the 34th Company on the Rocciamelone - to end in the valley with a visit to the base of the department.

All activities were conducted in full compliance with the health regulations in force, adopting the measures envisaged for the containment of the COVID-19 epidemic.
