Army and AIRC: musical meeting for 153 anniversary of the army

On Tuesday, at the auditorium "Parco della Musica" in Rome, the musical event was held to celebrate the 153 anniversary of the establishment of the army.

The event was realized thanks to the collaboration between the Italian army, the Italian association for cancer research and some representatives of the music and entertainment world, who accepted the invitation of the army to join the charity event with the aim of contribute to AIRC and to fund research projects on female tumors.

The concert, broadcast live by RAI 5 and on the RAI Italia satellite channel, was presented by Elisa Isoardi and included traditional bani, linked in particular to the centenary of the 1 World War II, pieces of Jazz and pop music performed by the band of army, from the choir of the National Alpine Association of Rome and the artists present.

“The commitment of this evening - declared the chief of staff of the army Claudio Graziano, during his speech - is similar to the humanitarian one we carry out abroad in peace operations. Ours wants to be a support for research against cancer, this disease of the century that makes so many people suffer. I believe it is a right way to be among the people on the 153rd anniversary of the foundation of our Army and of the unified history of our country. "

During the show, artists have alternated testimonies on the progress of cancer research in recent years.

The importance of supporting the researchers' work was the content of the video message by Carlo Conti and the intervention of the young actor Brando Pacitto who played Vale, a boy whose leg was amputated for an osteosarcoma, in the hit drama " Red bracelets ", aired on RAI1 a few months ago and which had the merit of bringing the stories of young boys treated for cancer to the general public.

The part of the show dedicated to the centenary of the 1 World War II was embellished by the actor Massimo Reale who read a letter from the front, flanked on stage by figures wearing Army uniforms, of the last 100 years, to visually represent the technological evolution of the Armed Force but at the same time highlight the continuity of values ​​and feelings with the soldiers of the "great war".

The musical evening was enriched by the performance of the young singer Gabriella Ferrone and by Gigi D'Alessio who, in addition to playing two pieces from her repertoire, performed, together with the Army band, the famous song "O surdato 'namurato".

The guests present in the room offered their contribution to AIRC and receiving the "research azalea" the flower symbol of the commitment to fight female tumors.

The celebrations for the 153 anniversary of the establishment of the army ended yesterday morning with a military ceremony at Palazzo Esercito in Rome.

During the ceremony which was attended, in addition to the Chief of Staff of the Army, General Claudio Graziano, the Minister of Defense, Senator Roberta Pinotti, the Undersecretaries of Defense, Honors Alfano and Rossi and the Chief of Defense Staff Admiral Luigi Binelli Mantelli, the fallen of all the wars have been remembered and honors given to the personnel that has particularly distinguished in service.
