NBCR exercise in Trapani

In recent days, at the Luigi Giannettino barracks in Trapani, the exercise called "Interagency" was held between qualified personnel of the Army belonging to the 6 ° Bersaglieri regiment and teams of the NBCR core of the Fire Brigade of the command of Trapani.

The exercise is aimed at increasing the capacity for synergistic response to defend itself from a chemical, bacteriological, radiological and nuclear event (NBCR) in a built-up area. The demonstration activity concludes the basic training cycle of the Bersaglieri, during which the defense capabilities were improved and increased in case of possible NBCR attacks or spills of dangerous contaminants, in order to protect themselves and support the injured , to other units of the FA specialized in the management of the aforementioned emergencies and to the fire brigade teams.

During the simulation of the NBCR event, the bersaglieri of the "Aosta" brigade applied the concepts learned in the previous weeks of education, carrying out the basic tasks of those working on the ground, or acquiring and distributing the necessary information to be provided to the superordinate bodies and to the NBCR teams of the Fire Brigade that will have to intervene in the following phases. Specifically, the site of the accident was secured from any external threats and the first care was provided to the wounded while awaiting the intervention of the Fire Brigade. The latter, in particular, have the institutional competence in the national territory for making the accident scenario safe, for setting up a decontamination area for the protection and treatment of the persons involved, including the subsequent transfer to the medical post advanced.

The army's plumed infantry demonstrated versatility and flexibility, carrying out actions and tasks that contributed to increasing the department's "Combat Power Capability" in different operational scenarios, through the strong synergy with the specialized personnel of the Fire Brigade, a civil body of the State which has the primary task of urgent technical rescue aimed at safeguarding the safety of citizens.
