04/03/19

The exercise "The Lion's Scratch" was completed, developed through the deployment of all the units of the "Aosta" brigade in the polygon of Capo Teulada, engaged in several training days in a high intensity operating scenario.

Army Corps General Rosario Castellano, commander of the Southern Operational Forces and Major General Fabio Polli, commander of the "Acqui" division, who attended the exercise, congratulated Brigadier General Bruno Pisciotta, commander of the brigade "Aosta", for the organization and conduct of the complex training event divided into two Tactical Groups that almost simultaneously engaged the polygon B and the polygon C of Capo Teulada, integrating many enabling assets that guaranteed mobility and counter-mobility on the battlefield and support of fire.

The logistical effort for the preparation and conduct of the activity was supported by 11 Army departments, employing over 900 soldiers, 108 tactical vehicles and combat vehicles (including VTLM Lince, VTLM Bear, Medium Armored Vehicles "Freccia", Blindo "Centauro", and Carri Aries), 78 logistical tactical means, 12 special vehicles, 22 commercial vehicles and 4 flames FH-70. The final exercise in focus was preceded by an intense period of activity to opposing parties using the advanced simulation systems of the Tactical Training Center of Capo Teulada, which allowed the brigade's departments to set the conditions for the validation aimed at the use for missions abroad.

The exercise highlighted the organizational flexibility of the units of the "Aosta" brigade, deriving from the pluriarma connotation, which allows to adapt procedures and organizational structures to the different scenarios, guaranteeing in every condition the information superiority, the ability to command and control, the timeliness and adequacy of the response to the multi-faceted threats and risks of the modern operational environments in which the Army is employed.
