Exercise with simulation of "high intensity" war fighting scenarios

The exercise "Mjölnir 19", a conduit from the 9 Alpine Regiment and aimed at achieving the full operational capability of one of the Italian components of the "Nato Readiness Initiative", ended on Thursday at the Monte Stabiata polygon in L'Aquila. composed of units able to intervene with very short activation times, available to the Atlantic Alliance.

The exercise, which started in early December, saw the 9th Alpine Regiment organize and conduct a complex series of training activities with the simulation of "high intensity" scenarios of the "war fighting" type.

The final phase, which was attended by the commander of the Alpine troops, general of army corps Claudio Berto, accompanied by the commander of the Alpine brigade TaurinenseBrigadier General Davide Scalabrin saw the use of a Tactical Group and with a task force pluriarma, managed by a Advanced Command Post, able to effectively coordinate operations in an integrated manner.

In addition to the 9th Alpini, other units of the "Taurinense" Alpine Brigade also took part in the exercise, including assets of the "Nizza Cavalleria" (1st) regiment, the 1st land artillery regiment (mountain) and the 32nd sapper engineers regiment, supported by specialists from the 41st "Cordenons" regiment and the 17th "Sforzesca" anti-aircraft artillery regiment. Completing the deployment were the aircraft of the 1st AVES "Antares" regiment and the 7th AVES "Vega" regiment.
