In the last few days, the 3rd Bersaglieri Regiment conducted an important exercise at the Capo Teulada shooting range.
The exercise, called “Capricorn 5”, had as its main objective the training of the Regiment's units and the deployment of the Command Post of theoperational reserve force – battalion (ORF-BN), with the setting up of an Operations Room to coordinate all activities, including the activations of the 1st Armored Regiment, through the use of simulation systems from the 1st level tactical training center (CAT) and the XVIII “Poggio Scanno” battalion.
Reconstructing contexts similar to those present in the operational zones in which the Italian Army may be called to operate, the Bersaglieri trained in patrolling, land exploration, medical assistance, and management of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) events. There was also the opportunity to refine both the conduct to adopt in the event of finding explosive devices, and the methods for their deactivation or detonation.
During the training, we went from a scenario of peacekeeping, involving the implementation of crowd control activities, check points and support actions for the Local Police, in more complex scenarios, both during the day and at night.
