Aircraft exercise in Rimini

In recent days, at the headquarters of the 7th AVES "Vega" regiment in Rimini, a unit belonging to the "Friuli" aircraft brigade, a tense exercise was held in full compliance with the regulations in force for combating and containing COVID 19. to assess the level of training and operational readiness of the flight crews and aircraft infantry units of the Army to be placed in the operational theater.

After the usual back brief held by mission commander on the premise of the flight activity, the training event saw the execution of a mission of Personnel Recovery aimed at the recovery of two pilots who were isolated following a simulated plane crash, in a non-permissive environment. In particular, the activity was carried out by two AH-129D exploration and escort helicopters and two UH-90 tactical transport helicopters carrying a team specialized in Personnel Recovery of the 66th “Trieste” Aircraft Infantry Regiment.

The exercise, conducted with the presence of OPFOR (Opposing Forces) in order to ensure greater training realism, demonstrated the close synergy and integration existing between flight crews and aircraft infantry.

The activity saw the participation of the commander of the “Vittorio Veneto” division and the commander of the “Friuli” aircraft brigade. The general of division Angelo Michele Ristuccia, in particular, wished to express his deepest appreciation towards the 7th “Vega” for the splendid work he carries out daily without interruption both at home and abroad.
