The pilots and specialists of the 5th AVES "Rigel" regiment, stationed in Casarsa della Delizia (PN), thanks to the night flight capability, took off at 4 this night with a UH-90A tactical transport helicopter, to rescue two climbers stranded along the north face of Monte Zermula.

The helicopter set-up, activated by Aerospace Operations Command (COA) of Poggio Renatico (FE), after having embarked two rescuers of the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps (CNSAS) at the base camp set up in Cason di Lanza (UD) managed to get rescuers down directly on the wall with the winch, taking the two climbers one at a time.

The intervention of the Army crew, in the National Air Emergency Service (PIAN), was decisive for the success of the rescue, managing to arrive in an inaccessible area at night thanks to the help of night vision goggles.

The search and rescue operations are part of the broader plan of National Air Emergency Response (PIAN) within which the "Rigel" provides its constant availability of 2 helicopters, ready to intervene 24 hours a day with immediacy in case of need.
