The blood donation activity by the military of the "Sassari" brigade continues in these days. After the initiatives promoted by the "Sassari" regiments stationed in Teulada (3 ° bersaglieri), Cagliari (151 ° and logistic regiment) and Macomer (5 ° genius sappers), the appeals to donate blood during the Coronavirus emergency are not not even unheard in Sassari, seat of the 152nd regiment, of tactical support command department and brigade command.

In fact, there are numerous patients who are transfused every day in hospitals in Sardinia, many of whom are people with pathologies that require regular use of blood transfusions.

This is one of the reasons why the 152nd "Sassari" infantry regiment, commanded by Colonel Giuseppe Rocco, organized a day dedicated to the donation, hosting in the "Gonzaga" barracks a car and the volunteers of the Sassari municipal Avis. "The initiative of the 'Sassari' brigade, which I thank for the solid bond of friendship and closeness that has always linked us"Serafino Dettori - Avis president of the turritano capital explained - "responds to the constant and indifferent need to cope with the reduced availability of blood and blood products, accentuated at a time when the health system is facing an emergency such as that represented by the Sars-CoV-2 virus which risks causing a drop of the stocks on the island for the fear of citizens to leave the house to go to the transfusion centers ".

"Solidarity in the context of donation is a gesture of great altruism, the result of ethical values and principles proper to the soldier of the Italian Army", said Colonel Rocco.

"In the case of the 'Sassarini' the extraordinary sense of belonging to their land prevails. They feel it is their duty to help their fellow countrymen in this time of need", commented the commander of the "Sassari" brigade, general Andrea Di Stasio.

A second blood donation, also in the "Gonzaga" barracks, is expected on April 29th.
