"Disaster relief": Training for public calamities

Besides 150, military and civilian rescuers participated today in Turin in a joint exercise to rescue the population struck by a natural disaster. Everything has been made more realistic by the many volunteers who have interpreted the role of the wounded and the traumatized.

During the exercise, an earthquake of strong intensity was simulated which caused numerous victims and considerable damage, including the collapse of a dam and the consequent flooding.

The soldiers of the 32 ° army genius regiment, firefighters, Italian red cross, 118 and civil protection, led by the unified operations room, exercised in the rescue in water of people overwhelmed by the flood wave, in the extraction of survivors from the rubble and setting up a camp to accommodate the displaced.

Today was the first exercise in civil protection promoted and organized in Piedmont by the army in synergy with the civil authorities dedicated to rescue, which shared techniques, procedures and equipment used by the military for two weeks.
