04/04/22

From 28 March to 1 April 2022, the residential phase of the Law Of Armed Conflict (LOAC) - Common Module, a short period of study, delivered entirely in English by military and civilian experts, and organized by Post Conflict Operations Center (CSPCO) in collaboration with the Interdepartmental University School in Strategic Sciences (SUISS) of the University of Turin.

During the welcome address, the commander of the training institute, division general Mauro D'Ubaldi, underlined how much the CSPCO is a dynamic reality in terms of civil and military integration, which summarizes an effective implementation of an authentically multi -dimensional. A crucial need in view of growing commitments in fragile areas of the world, where this concept certainly represents an indispensable element of success for sustaining or restoring the concept of a country system.

The training activity is part of the "European initiative for the exchange of young officers", better known as "Military Erasmus", conceived by European College of Security and Defense of Brussels, to which the Army Training and Application School command adheres since 2013.

It is about the exchange of students, both civilian and military, between Italian and foreign military schools and universities, during their basic training course. The aim of the course is to provide students with extensive information on aspects related to the Law of Armed Conflicts and to strengthen the ability of young officers to work together with colleagues from other Member States. This session was attended by 42 students, including 10 officers attending the 200th course, 14 civilian students of SUISS (attending the Master's Degree in Strategic Sciences), 4 student officers of the Aeronautical Academy and 14 foreign officers (of which 2 Americans, 1 Croatian, 4 Greeks and 7 Poles).

Successful completion of the course, held in person and preceded by an asynchronous preparatory distance phase on the ILIAS platform of the European College of Security and Defense in Brussels, allows for the assignment of university credits recognized at European level.
