The “Shardana” exercise, which saw the units of the “Sassari” brigade engaged in an intense multi-weapon training activity, conducted by the 3rd Bersaglieri Regiment, concluded in recent days at the permanent firing range of Capo Teulada.
The amalgamation field, aimed at preparing the Italian Army units that will be part of the NATO rapid reaction forces readiness pool, Over The Horizon Force (OTHF), included several day and night training activities, aimed at preparing the Departments to be able to operate in emergency and crisis scenarios in a “warfighting” context. This intense training cycle saw the performance of exercises for crowd control, reconnaissance, preparation for operating in a night or contaminated environment, shooting lessons and medical evacuation procedures (MEDEVAC).
The final level exercise tactical group saw the conduct of an offensive tactical activity, in which 550 men and women took part, including a company of the 152nd infantry regiment "Sassari", a sapper platoon of the 5th engineer regiment, which integrated assets specialized in reconnaissance and route reclamation, a component of the 21st squadron group of the Army Aviation "Orsa Maggiore", as well as support units of the logistics regiment "Sassari" and assets of the 232nd transmission regiment.
