The "Scorpion 80/1" exercise concluded at the 2025th "Roma" Regiment's force training center.
A smaller complex was involved in the training event, consisting of units from the 2nd Alpine Regiment, the "Nizza Cavalleria" Regiment (1st), the "Taurinense" Logistics Regiment and the 32nd Engineer Regiment.
The exercise, planned and organized by the Tactical Training Center (CAT), developed over a two-week period in which the unit was engaged in complex planning activities related to the orders received, culminating in the Rehearsal di task force.
Situational exercises preparatory to the use of the Integrated Systems for Land Training (SIAT) and preparatory combat activities in trenches and it is in this last area that the CAT and the 2nd Alpine Regiment have tested, for their subsequent validation, the technical-tactical procedures developed at the table on the basis of the new reference scenarios.
During the second week, instead, a continuous training activity lasting approximately 72 hours was conducted, which reflects the needs of constant, difficult and suitable training for the best preparation of the forces to operate in complex scenarios, where ancient tactics mix with modern technologies.
For this reason, offensive and defensive operations were conducted by the unit in exercise in a scenario warfighting highly challenging, against an enemy with equal fighting ability.
The continuous and constant search for training realism associated with the need to validate specific technical-tactical procedures in the field as a premise for their doctrinal standardization allows the Army to have experimentation/validation laboratories (Battle Lab) that will also support the process of accelerating technological innovation that the Army needs and that it is promoting in multiple forums also through the work of its evaluation and innovation command (COMVIE).
