The “Sciabola 25” exercise, organized and conducted by the “Cavalleggeri di Lodi” regiment (15th), with the participation of the smaller reconnaissance line cavalry units from the Southern operational forces command area, concluded in recent days at the Torre Veneri training areas.
The activity allowed to refine the technical-tactical procedures of the weapon and specialty, involving the regiments "Lancieri di Aosta" (6th), "Lancieri di Montebello" (8th), "Cavalleggeri Guide (19th), assets of the 11th engineer regiment, of the 17th anti-aircraft artillery regiment "Sforzesca" and of the 33rd regiment. Electronic Warfare.
The scout units, trained on armored platforms Centaur I and II, Medium armored vehicle (VBM) “Freccia 8x8” in anti-tank version Spike e Fighting, light armored vehicle “Puma”, Lightweight Multirole Tactical Vehicle (VTLM) “Lince”, integrated in the maneuver with remotely piloted aircraft, with surveillance radar and electronic warfare assets, have verified and strengthened their capabilities, training in operational scenarios inspired by the highest criteria of realism, with the development of tactical activities at platoon level, through day and night exercises, with opposing parties, with the enemy represented by Opposing Force (OPFOR).
The training objectives included the planning and conduct of multi-weapon activities, the consolidation of the decision-making capabilities of commanders at all levels and the correct use of the various platforms deployed.
