(To Army Majority State)

The multinational exercise ended in recent days at the Hohenfels base (GER) 2022 Saber Junction, in which the Army participated with a C1 tank platoon Ram and with the support of command and control and logistic assets belonging to the 4th tank regiment. The activity falls within the framework of NATO's training commitment for the implementation of the operational capabilities of the units of the member countries in a combined environment and was conducted with the participation of contingents from fourteen nations.

The objective of the exercise was to test combat capabilities, verify the interoperability of communication systems between the forces of the participating allied countries, in a simulated operational environment, characterized by an increasing level of complexity with opposing parties (force on force).

The Italian unit, framed by the 173 ^ infantry airborne brigade American, conducted a continuous exercise for a period of 10 days, operating in a compartmentalized and interacting environment with US units and allied countries.

In particular, after ensuring the safety of the drop zone in the initial phase, the tank platoon of the "Garibaldi" Bersaglieri brigade was actively engaged both in the defensive phase of the exercise and in the offensive one where it conducted a counterattack, with the support of other forces.

La Saber Junction is an activity that is part of a training course that the 4th tank regiment started in the previous semester, experimenting with the operational concept of standard and advanced training, taking part in the Combined Resolve XVII which ended last June and other training activities carried out in Italy and abroad. Attending the final phase of the exercise were the commander of the “Garibaldi” Bersaglieri Brigade, Brigadier General Mario Ciorra, and the commander of the 4th Tank Regiment, Colonel Francesco Antonio Dolciamore.

The effort and resources used during the exercise confirmed the Army's ability to secure forces with the ability to provide NATO full spectrum, to operate in scenarios warfighiting highly responsive and capable of carrying out all tasks.
