The "LARAN 2022" fire exercise, organized by the training group of the artillery command in favor of the marshals of the 22nd course "Osare" and of the student sergeants of the 25th, has just ended at the shooting range of Monte Romano (VT). ° course.
The activity, which took place from 16 to 20 May, involved, in addition to the units of the group, also a mortar section of the 185th "Folgore" paratrooper artillery regiment and an operational detachment of the 185th reconnaissance regiment acquisition objectives (RRAO) of the Special Forces.
The exercise allowed the visitors to perfect the technical-professional preparation on the battery command post and on the parts line, as well as to consolidate the procedures between the departments. In particular, the attendant staff trained in the procedures relating to the use of the mechanical towed howitzer FH-70 and the PZH-2000 self-propelled howitzer, practicing in the calculation of shooting data and on the technical procedures, as well as in the foreseen tasks. from various assignments on artillery pieces.
The 185th "Folgore" regiment participated in the exercise by identifying a section of 120 mm "Thompson" mortars which carried out the fire interventions under the direction of the training group, while the personnel of the 185 ° RRAO regiment contributed to the shots as observer of earthly fire, with a operational detachment (DO) in training for the conduct of terminal guidance operations (TGO), thus increasing procedural fluidity and consolidating procedures related to artillery fire.
Brigadier General Francesco Principe, commander of the Artillery expressed his personal applause exercised for the procedural correctness and the level of precision achieved on the exercise targets, highlighting how important it is for gunners to maintain a high level of training and technical knowledge and , at the same time, consolidate interoperability between departments.
