The international exercise "Cerces 2023" concluded in recent days, which took place at the Valloire range, in France, with the participation of a department of the 1st land artillery regiment (mountain) of the brigade Taurinense who, for a week, practiced in Haute-Savoie with the 120mm Thompson Mortars, together with the mountain artillerymen of the 93rd RAM of the French Army.

The exercise organized annually by the 27th French mountain brigade made it possible to consolidate the ability to conduct offensive, defensive and enabling tactical activities, with continuous tests carried out at altitude and in harsh climates. The artillerymen of the Taurinense they practiced operating at over 2 meters above sea level, with temperatures as low as -20°C.

The 2023 edition of the Hoops recorded the use of joint command and control structures for the first time, using the IT platform used by the Italian Army (SIF) with that used by French colleagues, verifying the full synergy of the two systems. Furthermore, the shared use of the FSE (Fire Support Element) Teams and the observer units made it possible to train the units according to NATO procedures. To complete the picture of artillery use during the exercise, the 27th brigade also made use of the air component with the Mirage 2000 of the aircraft carrier Charles De Gauelle who simulated direct interventions led by Team Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC).

Accessibility to adequate training areas guarantees the Army the safety and readiness of its personnel, always available to intervene effectively to defend citizens.
