The "Grifo 2/2021" exercise, conducted in recent days by the 132nd armored brigade "Ariete", which involved, in particular, the 32nd tank regiment and the 10th sapper engineering regiment, with the competition of an A-129 rotary wing attitude of the 5th “Rigel” regiment of the Army Aviation.
The "Grifo 2/2021" is part of the numerous training and maintenance activities carried out by force package NATO's very high operational readiness, set up for the need Joint Rapid Response Forces (JRRF), which involves the 132nd “Ariete” armored brigade for the two-year period 2021-22.
The activity developed from an intense planning phase, culminating in the development of a Map Exercise (MAPEX) during which the staff was able to refine the technical-tactical procedures for the use and coordination of the wagon units and engineering assets in a typically context warfighting, with particular reference to minefield systems.
Subsequently, in the training area of Cellina Meduna, the conduct phase took place which made it possible to verify on the ground what was established in the planning phase. In particular, the intervention of the A-129 rotary wing structure, in support of the firing action of the “Ariete” platforms, simulated with the use of the BT-46 shooting laser systems, made the training scenario extremely realistic.
The exercise ended with a nocturnal activity conducted by the tank crews who were able to perform and perfect tactical tasks and exercises peculiar to armored units.
Overall, the activity proved highly profitable for all the staff involved and allowed the consolidation of the action procedures in a context combined arms, as well as testing the use of the “Ariete” chariot in different and complex operational situations.
All the exercise phases were carried out in full compliance with the prevention and protection measures imposed by the current epidemiological emergency.
