At the Capo Teulada shooting range (SU), in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Army (SME), general of the army corps Pietro Serino, the "CAEX 1 - 2021" (Complex Aviation Exercise), organized by the Army Aviation Command and conducted jointly between the flight departments of the specialty and other departments of the Army.
Also present at the exercise were the commander of the land operational forces command and the Army operational command, general of the army corps Federico Bonato and the commander of the southern operational forces command, general of the army corps Giuseppenicola Tota.
The CAEX is the main exercise of the AVES which is carried out twice a year in order to standardize the training of all its units in terms of standardization and flight safety. The activity also provides for the participation of various assets of the Army, within the framework of interoperability and specialization that characterizes the use of the Armed Force. The training event is also an opportunity to validate the units soon to be released in foreign operational theaters.
Under the direction of the Army Aviation Commander, Major General Paolo Riccò, the training was developed continuously for two weeks. The supposed scenario has recreated operational situations as likely to be as real as possible. On the ground, in fact, different types of Opposing Forces (opposing enemy forces), which from time to time have subjected the units exercised to activations of various kinds, precisely in order to evaluate their ability to react to the different activations (injections) and thus draw food for thought and correction aimed at adapting the military instrument in response to the continuing evolution of the threat.
During the first week, the participating personnel gathered at the bases of Viterbo, Capo Teulada and Perdas de Fogu for the amalgam phase, during which the various units were involved in an intense joint training, preparatory to the "CAEX".
The second week saw the forces involved in the planning and execution phases of the exercise at the Capo Teulada shooting range. Here, the Task Force commanded by Colonel Giovanni Quartuccio, commander of the 1st AVES "Antares" regiment, conducted a counterattack operation, carried out according to the procedures of the aircraft assault (Air Assault).
The "Pluriarma Tactical Complex" carried out, in total integration, a set of activities including the aircraft raid, tactical helicopter transport, insertion and extraction of personnel, medical evacuation, recovery of isolated personnel and support airplane close up.
Together with the Army Aviation departments, the personnel and vehicles of the 1st Regiment "Granatieri di Sardegna", 2021rd Bersaglieri Regiment, 1th Infantry Regiment "Aosta", 3th Regiment took part in the "CAEX 5-5" genius spoilers, 7th and 11th transmission regiment, 66th "Trieste" aircraft infantry regiment, 151st and 152nd "Sassari" infantry regiment, 185th paratrooper regiment, acquisition of "Folgore" objectives, veterinary military center and doctors of the military corps of the Red Cross.
The head of SME, during the visit, expressed words of satisfaction for the conduct of the "CAEX" and for the commitment made by all military personnel, underlining the importance of synergy between all components of the armed force and the joint training that must increasingly tend towards specialization, in view of the commitment that the Army ensures on a daily basis to protect national and international security.
