The 21st edition of the Flick Flok, a socio-sporting-cultural event organized by the Bersaglieri Brigade "Garibaldi" of the Army, in synergy with the Municipality of Caserta, local schools, Coni, the Italian Athletics Federation (Fidal), local businesses, associations and foundations. The event brought together athletes, military personnel and families around the values of sport, solidarity and inclusion.
On Sunday 20 October, the “Cremisi Village” was inaugurated with the flag-raising ceremony, in the presence of Brigadier General Mario Ciorra, commander of the Bersaglieri Brigade “Garibaldi”, the mayor of Caserta, lawyer Carlo Marino and the city authorities. After the national anthem, sung to the tune of the Fanfare by the singer and actress Luisa Corna, godmother of the event, the foot races began. Around 1600 athletes registered for the 10 Km competitive Fidal, valid for the Italian individual and “master” company championship, followed by 1300 registered for the 5 Km, a non-competitive walk open to all and organized in partnership with the “Race for the Cure”, an event symbolic of the prevention of female oncological pathologies.
Finally, there was also space for the little ones with the 1000-meter mini-race in the gardens in front of the Reggia in which the children of the “Happy Hand” foundation participated.
Enthusiasm and curiosity animated the day at the sports village, the heart of Flik Flok, where it was possible to attend not only numerous musical events, sports demonstrations, exhibitions and social moments, but also visit the numerous stands of the Campania schools and the exhibition set up by the Army.
The competitive 10km race was completed in 29'43'' by Jacopo De Marchi, of the Army sports center, winner of the men's category, while in the women's category, the winner was Nimbona Elvanie, an athlete from ASD Carmax Camaldolese, who completed the race in 32'51''. The performance of Francesco Lorusso, an 85-year-old runner, who completed the 10 km in one hour, was surprising.
The participation of the Campania Higher Institutes in the traditional cultural competition combined with Flik Flok was broad and heartfelt, with over 80 works focused on the theme of "solidarity". The Vincenzo Corrado State Higher Institute of Mondragone (CE) won first prize, followed by the Giovanni Battista Novelli State Higher Institute of Marcianise (CE) and the Nino Cortese Scientific Higher Institute of Maddaloni (CE).
"The event represented an important opportunity to support sport and share with citizens the values that the Italian Army has always been committed to promoting: solidarity, discipline, respect for the rules, loyalty and team spirit. The Flik Flok was a success, made possible thanks to the perfect synergy between all the institutions and our partners", said Brigadier General Mario Ciorra.
This year, the proceeds from Flik Flok went to the National Organization for Assistance to Orphans and Career Soldiers of the Army (ONAOMCE).
