The “Multinational Readiness Exercise” (MNRE24) conducted by the “Garibaldi” Bersaglieri Brigade, which, as the person in charge of the deployed forces, conceived, organized and led the MNRE24 through a “Command Post Exercise” – “Computer Assisted Exercise” (CAX/CPX), “Live Exercise” (LIVEX) and “Field Training Exercises” (FTX), with the support of the specialized assets of the Tactical Information Brigade (BIT), the “Pinerolo” and “Aosta” brigades, the anti-aircraft artillery command, and transport and combat helicopters of the Army Aviation, in particular the “Friuli” airmobile brigade, has concluded at the Persano military complex.
Foreign units also participated in the exercise, which aimed at raising the command and control capacity to brigade level. Subject Expert Matters (SME) from various specialist units of the Army. The brigade command post trained in the employment of forces across the full spectrum of conflicts (Full Spectrum Operations) in a scenario warfighting while combat and support units engaged in offensive, defensive and enabling tactical activities.
The use of the “Imperio” command and control system made it possible to reproduce realistic scenarios, testing the planning and coordination capabilities of the deployed multi-weapon assets, also facilitating the interoperability of the assets on the field and consolidating cooperation between the armed forces of the participating countries.
Brigadier General Mario Ciorra, commander of the Bersaglieri Brigade "Garibaldi", underlined the importance of this exercise, stating that “only through constant preparation can we continue to ensure an effective response to the challenges posed by international scenarios, thus contributing to collective security”.
The Bersaglieri Brigade "Garibaldi" has a Bersaglieri regiment, a sapper engineer regiment and a command and tactical support unit in the Caserta headquarters where the brigade command is located. In Salerno there is the cavalry regiment with a reconnaissance vocation and in the same province, in the Persano headquarters, the tank regiment, the artillery regiment, the logistics regiment and the district command are located. Last but not least, but outside the region, in Calabria, a Bersaglieri regiment and a detached company of the engineer regiment are located.
