“Lince Plus 2024” concluded

La tactical information brigade (BIT) has just concluded the “Lince Plus 2024” exercise, at the military complex of Persano (SA).

The now consolidated training event of the BIT has been included – as a federated exercise – within the “Multinational Readiness Exercise '24” conducted by the Bersaglieri brigade “Garibaldi” in a scenario warfighting.

Inserted as a support asset for information gathering within a large combat unit, the BIT provided the “Garibaldi” with a task force information maneuver and staff elements integrated into the ground information support functional area of ​​the large combat unit.

In particular, a task force of level minor complex, consisting of specialized structures for the planning and conduct of activities Human Intelligence (HUMINT), Imagery Intelligence (IMINT) and Electronic Warfare (EW), in order to collect information and enhance it. Furthermore, the task force, within the framework of the experimentation of the concept of use of the information maneuver, has integrated Cyber, PSYOPS and CIMIC assets with the aim of increasing the understanding of the operational environment and conducting non-kinetic actions in order to generate effects in the physical, virtual and cognitive dimensions.

At staff level, specialized personnel operated in cells G2, G3 and G5 in order to increase the level of integration and interoperability with particular reference to the development of the Intelligence cycle and the planning and conduct of influence activities.

The use within the Multinational Readiness Exercise '24 allowed the assets to operate in close contact with the large combat unit, practically testing the procedures, the methods of employment of the specialist units and the interaction within the brigade staff, addressing the concrete needs connected with the need to provide timely and effective information support for the development of the multi-weapon maneuver as a whole.

For the exercise, the framework of the task force information maneuver was provided by the 13th HUMINT Regiment, which also performed the task of gathering information from human sources. ISR capabilities were provided by the 41st IMINT Regiment in order to carry out battlefield surveillance with radar systems and Remotely piloted aircraft (APR), from the 33rd regiment Electronic Warfare (EW) for the exploitation of the electromagnetic spectrum in order to contribute to situational understanding and increase force protection and by the 13th “HUMINT” Regiment.

Furthermore, Influence capabilities, aimed at generating effects within the operational environment, were expressed by the assets of the 7th CIMIC Regiment with the task of pursuing support to the military force and the containment of the possible effects of military operations on civilians, by the PSYOPS specialists of the 28th “Pavia” Regiment with the task of conducting operational communication activities, as well as by operators of the 9th “Rombo” cyber security unit, able to guarantee freedom of maneuver in the cyber space and in the electromagnetic spectrum.

The elements integrating the “Garibaldi” staff were provided by the integrated terrestrial analysis department (RAIT) of the BIT command.

The “Lince Plus 2024”, whose final event was attended respectively by the commanders of the tactical information brigade, Brigadier General Carmine Vizzuso and of the “Garibaldi” brigade, Brigadier General Mario Ciorra, made it possible to validate the assets involved in view of the future operational needs of the BIT, as well as to take a further step forward in the integrated use, under a single direction, of all the specialist capabilities focused on the field of information, in the dual meaning of understanding the operational environment and generating effects through non-kinetic actions.
