The “Freccia 2024” exercise of the anti-aircraft artillery command, the main training event held every six months and configured as command post exercise (CPX).

The main feature of the Freccia is the “classified” geographic operational network that allows for the training of staff operating in brigade and tactical group level command posts in a realistic manner and in real time.

The anti-aircraft artillery command and dependent departments, from the headquarters in Sabaudia, Mantua and Bologna, managed events generated by an exercise control cell that represented both the higher command and the staff performance evaluation team. The exchange of operational messaging was particularly intense through the use of command and control systems supplied to the Armed Forces (IMPERIO) and NATO (CSI - CRC System Interface), which allowed for increased knowledge of the systems and to make the most of their potential.

The activations, generated with the aid of specific simulation systems in a warfighting type operational scenario, have allowed for the improvement of training not only of the various cells of the command post, but also of the operators responsible for tactical control in the correct management of fire resources in relation to the type of threat in progress.

The commander of the anti-aircraft artillery, Brigadier General Giuseppe Amodio, was able to appreciate the progress made in the organization and management of the anti-aircraft artillery command posts, inviting the staff to use the applications for the exercise of command and control functions also in routine activities to further improve training, accelerate planning processes and draft the subsequent operational documents.

COMACA has the task of delivering fire to reduce to zero the effectiveness of air attacks, conventional and non-conventional ballistic missiles, remotely piloted aircraft of the mini and micro categories against adversaries conducted at medium, low and very low altitudes, in high intensity operating environments, integrating into national, NATO and Theatre air defense systems, in order to guarantee the defense of friendly and allied forces, fixed installations and the population.
