12/05/14

The 87 ^ national gathering of the Alpine troops ended yesterday in Pordenone.

The parade of black feathers opened the event with the war flag of the 3 mountain artillery regiment followed by the banner of the national alpine association, accompanied by the army chief of staff, general Claudio Graziano, by the president of Ana, engineer Sebastiano Favero and the commander of the Alpine troops, general of the Army Corps Albero Primicerj.

General Graziano, answering the questions of the press, stressed that "an important message of solidarity understood as collaboration between civil organizations and the army, which is increasingly close in particular in this time of crisis for the country," starts from Pordenone.

Speaking of the peculiarities of the Alpine troops, General Graziano reiterated that "Training is important, it must be carried out in the most difficult contexts and the mountain is an exceptional training ground. In Afghanistan our soldiers have operated at over 5000 meters in height and if had they not been used to the cold and extreme conditions they would not have been successful.

The Italian army and in particular the Alpine troops have matured a capacity and a flexibility that makes them suitable to intervene where the country considers it necessary ".
