Commemoration of the battle of Nikolajewka

The demonstration for the 71 Anniversary of the Nikolajewka battle took place yesterday morning in the Garden of the Fallen on the Russian Front of Via Cassia in Rome. Many people present to attend the commemoration.

The "Nulli Secundus" fanfare came to the rhythm of the race of the Bersaglieri, directed by Renzo Tomò, and the ceremony began.

The Bersagliere Massimo Flumeri, representing the Gold Medals Group for Military Valor, gradually presented the various moments of the event. The anthem of Italy, played by the fanfare, accompanied the solemn moment of the raising of the flag. The representatives of the police of Roma Capitale then brought and placed on the stone the laurel wreaths sent by the Mayor of Rome and the President of the XV district Daniele Torquati, who then took the floor, followed by the municipal councilor Athos De Luca representing the mayor From Rome. Both highlighted how significant and important the memory of the fallen is. The laurel wreath in commemoration of the fallen by the Bersagliere Sandro Bari and the Alpine Silvano Leonardi, of the committee for Nikolajewka (UNIRR), was then laid. Monsignor Giacomino Ferminò then blessed the crowns and those present. The Bersagliere Antonio Abbadessa read the Prayer of the Missing in Russia after which the fanfare Nulli Secundus played the Silence.

The actor Angelo Blasetti has finally read some poems, including one by Trilussa, and the Alpine Silvano Leonardi recalled some moments of the Russian campaign. At the commemoration there were many labars and representatives of the Weapon associations: the Folgore with the ANPdI of Velletri, the Carabinieri, the Alpini, the San Marco Battalion, the Navy, the X MAS flotilla, the Fire Brigade, the Cross Rossa Italiana, the Rome Capital Police, as well as the volunteers of the Civil Defense and the district committee Cassia Grottarossa.

At the end of the event, the fanfare entertained the audience for a while with some famous pieces from the Bersaglieri repertoire including the Hymn of the Bersaglieri Regiment, twenty years cheerfully, the curly and others.
