At the funeral ceremony the army chief of staff, army corps general Claudio Graziano, attended the ceremony, wishing to witness the closeness and share the family pain with that of all the armed force that tragically lost one of his valiant son .
General Graziano met Mrs Annamaria Ciccone, mother of the young William, and the other relatives, to whom she renewed her personal solidarity and that of the whole armed force. The community of the small town of Abruzzo has tightened around the family of Williams together with the Alpine colleagues of the Julia and of the National Alpine Association, who intervened numerous with the banner of the Abruzzi section in mind. Also present at the ceremony were numerous civil and military authorities, including the prefect of the Pescara province dott. Vincenzo D'Antuono and the provincial president Dr. Guerino Testa.
At the entrance of the church, an armed picket of the 9 Alpine Regiment of L'Aquila made military honors at the coffin.
