Horses in Rome - Exhibition of Equestrian and Horse Riding

The press conference to present the Cavalli event in Rome was held today at the Capitoline museums. Equestrian and Horse Racing Exhibition, to be held from 25 to the 27 April, the largest equestrian event in the center and south of Italy, and for the Mediterranean.

The conference was attended by Alessandro Silvestri, national president of the Italian Federation of Equestrian Tourism and Trec Ante (FITETREC-ANTE), Mauro Mannocchi, sole administrator of Cavalli in Rome, Giuseppe Brunetti of the Italian Federation of Equestrian Sports (FISE) and captain Paolo Mezzanotte, Commander of the Horse Squadron of the 8th Lancers Regiment of Montebello, responsible for the Lance Carousel to be held during the event.

Also present in the room were Lieutenant Colonel Emanuele Patalano, commander of the Squadron Group on horseback of the 8th Lancers Regiment of Montebello and Sergeant Emilino Portale, absolute Italian champion of 2013, of the Military Equestrian Center.

Ample space and visibility will be given to the horses of the Italian Army, represented by the cavalry regiment of the Lancers of Montebello, which for three days, at the end of the evening, will perform in a Carousel of Lance.

Representatives of some important realities that connect horses and soldiers in Italy will also be present at Cavalli in Rome, who will illustrate their activities and services: the Military Center of Equitation of Montelibretti, an institution of excellence for equestrian disciplines, which of breeding and training and the Military Veterinary Center of Grosseto which, in addition to the breeding of the horse for the needs of the armed force, trains the canine units used in operational theaters for the discovery of explosive material.

Within the event, a space will be dedicated to the corner of Memory, set up by the National Arma di Cavalleria Association, with the presentation of memorabilia, publications and with elements that anticipate the commemorations of the hundredth anniversary of the great war (1915-1918).

The Lancers of Montebello will illustrate the evolution of the Italian Army cavalry, telling the story, up to the present day, from historical uniforms to current ones, used in operational environments and in the control of the territory together with the Police Forces.

The horse artillery regiment will also be present, heir to the horse batteries set up on 8 April 1831 and baptized the Volòire by the Piedmontese for the rapid pace on the ground and for the ability to support the charges of the cavalry.

The more curious will also be able to attend the interesting exhibitions of forging and shoeing of the Army farriers who, during the 3 days of the fair, will give life to the first Italian farriery competition and the anvil concert.

On the evenings of 25-26-27, with free admission, Cavalli in Rome will offer lovers of quadrupeds precious moments: an essay on high-school eighteenth-century riding and the Caprillian squares, special jumping exercises designed by Captain Federico Caprilli. At the end of the evening, the fanfare of the army and the knights and amazons of the lancers regiment of Montebello di Roma will perform in the stands of the grand gala, in the Lance carousel (in reduced ranks).

Medical assistance during the event will also be assisted by the “Celio” military polyclinic in Rome.

A stand of the armed force will also be set up, organized by the Military Command of the Capital in Hall 4, which will be a window on the past, present and future of the Italian military cavalry. An infopoint will also be set up at the Army stand, built by the 6th pioneers engineering regiment, where the public can receive all the news on the professional and training opportunities offered by the armed force.
