The student marshals of the XXVII “Volontà” course conducted a continuous exercise at the training area of San Martino in Trignano di Spoleto, aimed at acquiring the basic technical-professional knowledge and skills for planning and conducting team-level defensive activities, in a remote environment. warfighting.
Having arrived in Terzo San Severo (Spoleto - Perugia) aboard CH-47F rotary wing aircraft of the 1st “ANTARES” regiment of the Army Aviation, the students traveled approximately 10 km equipped with a compass and topographic map, fully equipped, to reach the locality of San Martino in Trignano where, after having identified a suitable parking area, they conducted a reconnaissance and occupation activity of the area to be defended. Subsequently, in line with the task received and with the established time constraints, they created a series of defensive positions within a minor complex level stronghold, while responding to diversified activations aimed at testing the knowledge acquired.
Making the operational context even more realistic was the presence of assets equipped with drones with day and night vision capabilities, used to test concealment and defense capabilities.
The commander of the Officers' School of the Army, Major General Maurizio Taffuri, congratulated the student marshals for the excellent level of training achieved, urging them to face with the same grit and determination the commitments that will see them as protagonists in the coming months of intense technical-professional preparation.
