The handover ceremony took place on the morning of Thursday 29 September technical supply center of Fiumicino (RM) between Colonel Ciro Piergianni, outgoing commander, and Colonel Gaetano Fusco, taking over.
The event, chaired by the head of the support service of the logistic command, Brigadier General Pietro Spagnoli, saw the participation of numerous civil, military and religious authorities of the territory, as well as the Combat and Weapon Associations and the commanders of the Dependent Entities of the ctr.
Colonel Piergianni, in his farewell speech, addressed words of thanks to the women and men of the Center for the support received during the period of command: "The efforts put in place during these years of crisis and emergency would have been worthless if the department had not been able to count on motivated human resources, equipped with exceptional professionalism, and animated by a great enthusiasm, love and passion for your work. Piergianni, taking stock of the results achieved in his years of command, "we have achieved extraordinary goals, from the competition in operations aimed at counter the spread of the pandemic from Covid-19, to more challenging and innovative activities such as the acquisition project in lease of hybrid vehicles and the release in favor of the ctr, the first public body in Europe, of the certification of Authorized Economic Operator by the Agency of Excise, Customs and Monopolies. "
Subsequently, Colonel Fusco took the floor and, in his speech, expressed his sincere gratitude to the superior authorities for having been designated as the new commander: "Today I take the honor of preserving and passing on the glorious tradition of the technical refueling center, in this regard our Armed Force is preparing to celebrate, on March 28, 2023, its Centennial from the foundation, a moment in which, starting from our history and our values, we must look to the future. I will have the honor of working side by side with highly professional, capable, enthusiastic and determined men and women".
At the end of the ceremony, in taking the floor, the head of the support service, General Spagnoli, expressed words of great satisfaction for what Colonel Piergianni had done in the period of command, in particular "in supporting our country in the evacuation of personnel from Afghanistan. You will all remember the airlift between Kabul and Italy, but I am sure that few know the effort made by the ctr to transport, in the context ofAquila Omnia operation, refugees at the reception centers identified throughout the national territory.
