Colonel Angelo Malizia took over from Colonel Diodato Abagnara. Colonel Abagnara leaves the command of the regiment after a year of intense training and operational activity in which the "Guides" have shown great professionalism and obtained excellent results, he returns to the army staff to hold an important and delicate position. In this year, the "Guides" have been engaged in various activities on the national territory; in particular, in Campania in the area of Caserta and Naples, they were responsible for the "Campania" grouping, as part of the "Safe Roads" operation, in support of the police in the control of the territory and in the fight against crime .
The results achieved have seen the conduct of some 3.000 fixed services and joint patrols with the police, traveled about 150.000 kilometers, carried out 4.000 assessments and checked more than 6.000 vehicles.
Furthermore, under the direction of the prefects of the provinces of Naples and Caserta and the coordination of the 2 Defense Forces Command (2 ° FOD) of San Giorgio a Cremano (NA), it was the first unit of the Italian army to be employed in the patrols in the "Land of fires" aimed at the competition to the police to counter the spills and the burning of waste.
Significant was the activity of cooperation with the social context for the realization of numerous projects in favor of associations and institutions that deal with people in difficulty. Colonel Malizia, raised in the ranks of the "Garibaldi", comes from the staff of the army.
