Change at the helm of the Folgore brigade

(To "Folgore" brigade)
22/10/21

This morning, in the presence of Major General Angelo Michele Ristuccia, commander of the "Vittorio Veneto" division, and of the city authorities, at the Parachute Training Center of Pisa, the alternation ceremony took place at the helm of the paratroopers brigade thunderbolt between Brigadier General Beniamino Vergori and his brother, from Paris, Roberto Vergori.

During his speech, the transferring commander highlighted how the most important element of the "Thunderbolt" is precisely the man, the paratrooper, the doubly volunteer soldier who has chosen to serve the homeland and has chosen to do so wearing the amaranth beret. "The feelings that animate us must always be those of working to match the staff employed, of being able to fulfill our tasks in the best possible way, with loyalty, honesty, courage, professionalism, always putting the interests of the institution we represent ".

During the more than two years spent in command, General Beniamino Vergori has seen the paratroopers of the thunderbolt operate on multiple fronts, from out-of-area missions in almost all Operational Theaters where the Italian Armed Forces are engaged, to conducting the very delicate final phase of the "Resolute Support" mission in Afghanistan including the evacuation of Italian and Afghan personnel, to commitments on the national territory as part of the “Safe Roads” operation.

The "Folgore" paratrooper brigade is a large unit of the Italian Army which, also operating in the third dimension, is able, at short notice, to plan, prepare and conduct any type of military operation by deploying its own drives at great distances.
