Change at the top of the Acqui

It took place today in videoconference mode, inside the "Oreste Salomone" barracks in Capua and in the presence of the commander of the South Operating Forces, Army Corps General Rosario Castellano, the change in command of the "Acqui" division between Division General Fabio Polli and Brigadier Nicola Terzano.

General Polli relinquished command at the end of an intense and fruitful professional experience, lasting more than 2 years, in which he led the large complex unit of the Army which has the 5 operational brigades of central-southern Italy and the islands, "Granatieri di Sardegna", "Aosta", "Pinerolo", "Sassari", "Garibaldi" and the command and tactical support department "Acqui ”, For a total of about 22.000 units.

In this period, as pointed out by General Castellano in his speech, the "Acqui" division faced many challenges with great enthusiasm and determination, achieving multiple and brilliant goals. In particular, the onerous relocation project from the historic headquarters of San Giorgio a Cremano to the new headquarters in Capua, regularly completed at the beginning of 2020, guaranteeing for all its phases the continuity of the command and control action on the dependent brigades. In addition, throughout 2019 and despite the relocation in place, the "Acqui" division command has been the protagonist of a long and demanding validation process such as Italian Joint Task Force Headquarters (ITA JTF HQ), which ended with Acqui achieving full operability (Full Operational Capability) as a high-speed interforce command to meet national needs.

Under the guidance of the “Acqui” division, the employee brigades intensified the department and specialty training activities, and at the same time, in line with the optimization of the resources available and the use of the training areas, they developed in the polygons national numerous tactical group fire drills, which allowed to consolidate and perfect those fundamental operational skills for the performance of the tasks assigned to the units both on the national territory and in operations abroad.

Division general Fabio Polli will fill the prestigious post of chief of staff of the Italian rapid reaction army of NATO (NRDC - ITA) in Solbiate Olona.

For Brigadier General Nicola Terzano a new challenge opens in Campania, after the command of the "Garibaldi" bersaglieri brigade.
