Change at the top of the "Vittorio Veneto" division

It took place today, at the "Predieri" barracks in Florence, in the presence of the commander of the North Operating Forces, Army Corps General Salvatore Camporeale, the alternation ceremony at the top of the "Vittorio Veneto" division between Major General Angelo Michele Ristuccia and the incoming Brigadier General Sergio Cardea, who will ensure continuity of command until hiring by Major General Michele Risi.

General Ristuccia leaves the command of the "Vittorio Veneto" after more than two years of activity, during which the division guaranteed, up to last December, the fulfillment of the operational, training and readiness commitments that involved the about 16.000 men and women of the "Pozzuolo del Friuli", "Friuli", "Ariete" and "Folgore" brigades pursuing, at the same time, the implementation of the four-year plan for the progressive development of the capacities of the new command Multinational Division South (MND - S HQ), within the framework of the commitments undertaken by the Nation within the Alliance.

In his speech, the commander of the "Vittorio Veneto" thanked all the authorities who intervened, pointing out that the change in command, like any change, is unavoidable and at the same time a value for everyone. The senior officer said he was honored to have been in command of the large complex unit, expressing his applause to all the employees for the commitment and collaboration provided in a complex context as characterized by significant operational and training commitments to be ensured. in the context of the difficult pandemic situation.

The outgoing commander, in underlining the value of the training return achieved following the participation of the division command in the international exercise "Steadfast Jackal 2021", then underlined how the future commitment of the forming MND-S HQ will allow the personnel of the "Vittorio Veneto" to consolidate practices and synergies with that of the allied nations, to increase their professional background and the ability to operate within the units belonging to the NATO Force Structure.

Corps general Salvatore Camporeale, during his speech, expressed a deep appreciation for the results achieved by the women and men of the division and wished the two commanders the best of luck for the new post.
